Over the river and through the woods

Watch out for the nettles

Stopping to see Shakespeare’s grace at Holy Trinity Church in Stratford on our way out of town, we headed southwest toward Mickleton. Will who raises sheep gave us a tiny roadside lecture on his sheep and the area we were in.
A stop for tea at the post office/store run by Mary George, was a welcome rest.

Refreshed, we climbed over stiles, avoiding the dreaded nettles, through a sheep pasture, through a farm (watch out for dogs running free, be friendly to any farm workers and past the bull pen - well secured !)

Another stop at a pub for just a bite and we were ready to soldier on toward Mickleton. However, we somehow missed a turn in our directions and had to walk along the highway - and you know how narrow the highways are in this part of the world! - but we gladly staggered in to our hotel at 4:30 in the afternoon and with glorious sunshine.
A hot shower, fresh clothes and a marmalade gin with elderflower tonic and voila!

And a good night’s sleep was heavenly

A full English breakfast for Casey and Becky at the Moonraker House. Leslie finally got her luggage tonight. In between those events, we enjoyed a visit to Anne Hathaway’s cottage.

Oxford

Before The Cotswolds

Beautiful blue skies and wildflowers in the meadows and along the roads welcomed me to Oxford on Tuesday, May 27. Those overnight flights are killers even with Delta’s Comfort seats!
My AirBnB is a funky little place, crammed with photos, maps, paintings, parts of mannequins, dainty little tea cups, dried hydrangeas, guitars, music books and so much more. My Edwardian room is cozy and quiet.27E25277-60FC-40DF-BAC7-0B92D2A5EF82.jpegC7259785-A864-481E-B882-73C007F5C964.jpegA6837E9C-92DE-4884-9809-E6CC57EC94B4.jpegDAF04430-D515-44A1-B485-B6FDBDE95A9F.jpegD0A513E9-F9F1-4369-8AB3-9749CF3836C3.jpegA1F67A74-F680-426D-93D1-A495652FAE2F.jpeg6DB797C0-413C-4807-B279-75CC4BD0DEC4.jpeg2029EAD5-2ECC-462F-BE8D-271C2F0E816A.jpego
